About Us & Contact Info

Matt BarkerWell, I guess this is the page where I talk about myself and this blog. Hmm, so where to begin?

Clearly I cannot be labeled a “sports geek,” since I shave my head and can bench press a Volkswagen. I played the game, as oppose to being a team manager, statistician, or video coordinator.

I first began writing on the Buckeyes for the now-defunct AllSports.com web site during the 2002 National Championship season. As a sports fan, I saw the need to have a web site that covered all of Ohio’s professional and college sports teams, so I started AllSportsOhio.net in 2003.

Not only did I blog about the Buckeyes, I also did the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns, and Columbus Blue Jackets, while several others covered the rest.

After two years, I decided to concentrate all of my efforts on Ohio State sports, so BuckeyeSportsBlitz.com was born in 2005.

One year later, I wanted a better name so I bought the BuckeyeBanter.com domain.

I am not exactly sure when I attended my first Ohio State sporting event. But the game I remember vividly as a child, the 1974 OSU-Michigan contest, just might have been the first. I guess I need to call my father for verification.

I was born on November 24, 1968, the day after the infamous game in Columbus, where Ohio State defeated Michigan, 50-14. Every baby at St. Ann’s Hospital, which was then located near Franklin Park on Columbus’ near East side, received a plush scarlet & gray football for their cribs.

I have been hooked on the Buckeyes ever since.
