Court Report: Buckeyes rally to defeat Nebraska, face That Team Up North in semifinals

This afternoon, the 24th-ranked and fifth-seed Ohio State Buckeyes will take on the No. 1-seed Michigan Wolverines in the semifinals of the Big Ten Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament. Tip-off at Bankers Life Fieldhouse is scheduled for approximately 1:40 p.m. ET.

The game will be televised on your local CBS affiliate with Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony and Tracy Wolfson. On your terrestrial radio dial, WBNS-FM 97.1 The Fan is the flagship station for the 56 outlets on the Ohio State IMG Sports Network. Paul Keels will call the play-by-play with analysis from Ron Stokes. The game can also be heard live via satellite on Sirius 91 and XM 91.

In the first quarterfinal game yesterday, Michigan narrowly escaped with a 64-63 win over No. 9-seed Illinois, 64-63, as sophomore guard Nik Stauskas had 19 points and sophomore forward Glenn Robinson III added 15 with seven rebounds for the top-seeded Wolverines.

Senior forward Jordan Morgan’s layup with 7.9 seconds left was the difference. Junior guard Tracy Abrams had one last shot at the other end for the Illini, but his floater in the lane was off the mark.

In the second quarterfinal match-up on Friday, the Buckeyes overcame an 18-point deficit on the strength of a career-high 26 points from junior forward LaQuinton Ross fifth-seed Ohio State knocked off No. 4-seed Nebraska, 71-67.

Sophomore guard Amedeo Della Valle came off the bench and added a spark with 12 points, six boards, and three blocks for the Buckeyes, while senior guard Aaron Craft chipped in six points, six boards and six assists in the win.

Craft, Della Valle and Ross combined to lead a 15-6 run in the final 3:17 of the game to secure the victory. In the final 3 1/2 minutes, Della Valle collected his three blocks and scored seven, Craft netted four of his six points and Ross added four points.
