Buckeyes hit the road looking for revenge, will take on Penn State in half-empty arena

Tonight, the No. 22/20 Ohio State Buckeyes head to State College to take on Penn State. Tip-off at the Bryce Jordan Center is scheduled for 7:02 p.m. ET.

The Buckeyes are looking to avenge a 71-70 overtime loss to the Nittany Lions on Jan. 29 in Columbus. Since then, Ohio State has won six out of seven games, while Penn State has lost four out of six.

Many good seats are still available through TicketMaster.com. Through 15 home games so far this season, the Nittany Lions are averaging 6,264 fans in an arena that has a capacity of 15,271.

TV and Radio:

The game will be televised on ESPN with Joe Tessitore and Sean Farnham. On your terrestrial radio dial, WBNS-FM 97.1 The Fan is the flagship station for the 56 outlets on the Ohio State IMG Sports Network. Paul Keels will call the play-by-play with analysis from Ron Stokes. The game can also be heard live via satellite on Sirius 85 and XM 85.

Buckeye Notes:

Ohio State is 22-6 overall and is fourth in the Big Ten with a 9-6 mark. In the latest RPI rankings, the Buckeyes are No. 19 with a 5-5 record against teams in the RPI top 50, and are 12-5 against squads in the RPI top 100.

Junior forward LaQuinton Ross leads the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game while shooting 40.4 percent from beyond the arc, and senior guard Lenzelle Smith Jr. is second at 11.7 points per outing. Senior point guard Aaron Craft is averaging 9.5 points, 4.6 assists and 2.6 steals per game. Junior center Amir Williams contributes 8.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per contest.

Nittany Lion Notes:

Penn State is 13-14 overall, sit dead-last in the Big Ten at 4-10, and are ranked No. 117 in the RPI. The Nittany Lions are 2-7 against teams in the RPI top 50, and are 5-11 against opponents in the RPI top 100. Penn State’s best win to date was against Ohio State.

Two on Penn State’s roster average in double figures with junior guard D.J. Newbill (17.4 ppg) and senior guard Tim Frazier (16.0 ppg). Junior forward Ross Travis is the team’s leading rebounder at 6.9 boards per game and freshman guard Graham Woodyard is the Nittany Lion’s best three-point shooter at 40.8 percent.

Series History:

Ohio State holds a 29-13 advantage in the Penn State series with an 11-7 record in State College. Thad Matta is 17-1 vs. the Nittany Lions with the lone loss coming in the most recent meeting. The Buckeyes are 16-3 in the series while carrying an Associated Press Top 25 ranking vs. Penn State.
