The Buckeyes enter tonight’s match-up with a perfect 12-0 overall record with wins over Morgan State (89-50), Ohio (79-69), at then-No. 17 Marquette (52-35), American University (63-52), Wyoming (65-50), North Florida (99-64), Maryland (76-60), Central Connecticut State (74-56), Bryant (86-48), North Dakota State (79-62), Delaware (76-64) and Notre Dame (64-61).

In OSU’s last game against the Fighting Irish on Dec. 21, senior guard Lenzelle Smith Jr. scored all nine of his points in the final 44 seconds of the game to help lead No. 3/2 Ohio State to an improbable 64-61 win over Notre Dame after the Buckeyes trailed by eight with less than a minute left in the BlackRock Gotham Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York, last Saturday.

For the game, Ohio State was 23-of-55 (41.8%) from the field, 3-of-18 (16.7%) from three-point range, and 15-of-20 (75.0%) from the free throw line. Notre Dame was 23-of-51 (45.1%) from the floor, 4-of-14 (28.6%) from beyond the arc, and 11-of-19 (57.9%) from the charity stripe.

Junior forward LaQuinton Ross led the Buckeyes with 16 points and 11 rebounds while junior center Amir Williams added 13.

ULM has played just seven games so far this season after taking nearly three weeks off to focus on final exams in the wake of their Academic Progress Rate woes. The Warhawks are 3-4 overall with wins over Samford (86-52), Northwestern State (84-80, OT), and Thomas College (84-61). The losses were to Kansas (80-63), LSU (61-54), Mississippi (75-62) and Louisiana Tech (83-61).

This is the first meeting between Ohio State and ULM.

The Buckeyes begin Big Ten play on New Year’s Eve afternoon when they take on Purdue at Mackey Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
