The Buckeyes enter tonight’s non-conference match-up with a 3-0 overall record with wins over Morgan State (89-50), Ohio (79-69), and at then-No. 17 Marquette (52-35) last Saturday. In Ohio State’s 17-point win over the Golden Eagles at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, junior guard Shannon Scott and junior forward Sam Thompson both scored 13 points, senior guard Aaron Craft added 10 points and 10 assists, all while holding Marquette to just 35 points.

American is 1-1 overall after losing the season-opener to George Mason (63-60) and defeated Maryland-Baltimore County (63-61, OT) last Thursday. Junior Darius Gardner scored 22 points, including a game-tying basket at the end of regulation. The 5-foot-9 point guard was 7-of-11 from the field and had nine rebounds, six steals and four assists.

This will be the fifth meeting between Ohio State and American. The Buckeyes are 4-0 all-time against the Eagles with three of those wins coming in Columbus. The last time these two teams met was on Dec. 29, 1999 at Value City Arena in Columbus as OSU won 79-43. Michael Redd totaled 19 points and nine rebounds, while Scoonie Penn added 15 points and five assists.
