Buckeyes move up to No. 3 in latest BCS standings, both polls

Thanks to Stanford’s 26-20 win over Oregon on Thursday, Ohio State moved up one spot in the latest BCS standings that were revealed last night on ESPN, as well as the Associated Press and USA Today top 25 college football polls that were also released on Sunday.

In the BCS, Alabama still tops the standings and Florida State remains at No. 2. The Buckeyes are now third followed by one-loss Stanford and undefeated Baylor to round out the top five.

In the AP poll, Alabama is No. 1 for the 12th-straight week as the Crimson Tide received 56 of the 59 first-place votes. Florida State is second with three first-place votes. (Note: Normally there are 60 AP voters, but one AP voter is on furlough and didn’t cast a ballot this week). Rounding out the top 10 in the AP poll is No. 3 Ohio State followed by Baylor, Stanford, Oregon, Auburn, Clemson, Missouri and Texas A&M.

In the USA Today coaches poll, Alabama also remains at the top with 58 of the 62 first-place votes. Florida State is No. 2 with four first-place votes. Rounding out the top 10 in the coaches poll, Ohio State is third, then it’s Baylor, Stanford, Clemson, Oregon, Missouri, Auburn and Oklahoma State.

Ohio State’s next game is Saturday against Illinois. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium in Champaign is set for 12:00 noon ET, and it will be televised on ESPN.
