For the second time in two weeks, fifth-year senior quarterback Kenny Guiton from Houston, Tex., was named the Big Ten Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week which was announced earlier today from the Big Ten offices in Park Ridge, Ill.
It’s Guiton’s second-straight award, though this time he’s sharing it with Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon.
Making just his second start of his career, Guiton was 24-of-34 passing for 215 yards while throwing for an Ohio State single-game record six touchdowns in the Buckeyes’ 76-0 win over Florida A&M on Saturday.
Guiton connected with five different receivers on his six touchdown throws including an 11-yard TD toss to tight end Jeff Heuerman, and eight-yard TD pass to Evan Spencer, a 1-yard shovel pass to running back Carlos Hyde, a 5-yard TD pass to Devin Smith, and a 15-yard TD pass to Chris Fields. Guiton’s last passing attempt came with five seconds left in the first half when he threw a 15-yard scoring strike to Spencer that put the Buckeyes up 55-0.
Up next, No. 4/3 Ohio State hosts No. 23/24 Wisconsin on Saturday. Kickoff at Ohio Stadium is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on you local ABC affiliate.
