Ohio State head basketball coach Thad Matta secured his first verbal commitment for the class of 2015 as Amos “A.J.” Harris pledged his allegiance to Buckeye Nation on Monday night.
Harris, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound point guard from Dunbar High School in Dayton, Ohio, is a three-star prospect by the three main recruiting services and Scout.com currently lists Harris as the 13th-best PG in the nation for the class of 2015.
Harris made an unofficial visit to the Ohio State campus on Monday, then before he left, Matta extended a scholarship offer. Harris wasted no time accepting the offer and issued his commitment to Matta outside the Schottenstein Center.
Along with Ohio State, Harris also had offers from Boston College, Xavier, Illinois State, Kent State, Akron and others.
As a sophomore, Harris averaged 15.3 points, 5.3 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game as a sophomore as the Wolverines went 21-7 and advanced to the regional finals before losing to Kettering Alter 60-59.
Here’s Harris in action, and yes he wears glasses.
