On Saturday, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and the Buckeye football team held their second annual Student Appreciation Day on the outdoor practice fields at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
The two-hour event which was one of 14 practices leading up to next Saturday’s spring game that included The Ohio State University Marching Band, Ohio State’s cheerleaders, live music from the group FBA, fan experience inflatables, food vendors, and an autograph session was attended by about 2,500 people.
Clearly the biggest “hit” of the day occurred when the lovable Ohio State mascot, known as Brutus Buckeye, decided to get into the action on the field.
Taking a direct snap out of the shotgun formation with quarterback Braxton Miller looking on behind him, Brutus dropped back to pass. In what may have been a delayed quarterback draw play, Brutus then runs with the ball right up the middle for a gain of a few yards before he’s absolutely decleated by linebacker David Perkins and Brutus coughed up the pigskin.
One thing’s for sure, Brutus needs to stay on the sidelines and hang out with the cheerleaders where he belongs.
