Ohio State’s road woes continued on Saturday as the Buckeyes dropped a 73-62 decision to Minnesota at Williams Arena in Minneapolis.
Evan Turner led Ohio State with 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. William Buford added 17 points while David Lighty chipped in 15 before fouling out for the Buckeyes, who now have lost three out of their four games.
Statistically it was very even game as both teams shot 45.5 percent from field. The Golden Gophers had a slight edge in rebounding (31-30) and Ohio State committed a few more turnovers than Minnesota (19-17), but the biggest difference came from beyond the arc and at the foul line as the Gophers knocked down 11-of-23 shots from three-point range while the Buckeyes went just 5-of-18 from downtown. Likewise, Minnesota was 23-of-30 from the charity stripe with Ohio State going to the line just 13 times as they converted on seven attempts.
The Buckeyes’ best three-point shooter, Jon Diebler, was just 1-of-8 from beyond the arc and finished with seven points. The Gophers’ best long-range marksman, Blake Hoffarber, was 7-of-9 from downtown and scored 27 points to lead Minnesota. Click here to read more >>
