According to Dan Wallenberg, the assistant athletics director for communications at Ohio State, Evan Turner will be out eight weeks with a fracture(s) in his lower back. The medical report states that he has been diagnosed with a transverse process fracture on the second and third lumbar vertebra of his spine.

With just under 14 minutes to go in the opening period, Turner drove down the lane and was fouled going up for a dunk. He missed, grabbed on to the rim and swung himself upwards, but lost his balance and fell hard onto the floor out-of-bounds. Turner was later helped off the floor after laying on the court for several minutes.

He later went to the Ohio State University Medical Center, but initial reports were that the x-rays were negative. Tests later revealed the fractures. More later on BuckeyeBanter.com.

Five Buckeyes scored 16 points or more led by Jon Diebler’s 21 as 15th-ranked Ohio State took Eastern Michigan to the woodshed for a 111-60 beatdown at the Schottenstein Center, Saturday afternoon.

One of the five, though, was not Evan Turner, who came into the game averaging 20.6 points per game, but left with a back injury early in the first half.

According to Bob Baptist of the Columbus Dispatch, Turner was taken to the Ohio State University Medical Center for x-rays, and those turned out to be negative. Click here to read more >>

No. 15 Ohio State, led by Evan Turner’s 25 points and 13 rebounds, defeated 21st-ranked Florida State, 77-64, as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge at the Schottenstein Center, Wednesday night.

For the first time in 11 years since members of the Big Ten and Atlantic Coast conferences have met up on the hardwood, the league west of the Appalachians are victorious.

The Buckeyes scored 12 of the games first 14 points and never trailed the rest of the way, but there were some close moments. Click here to read more >>

Weekend Update with Matt Barker

Good evening, I’m Matt Barker and you’re not.

Last night, Thad Matta’s 17th-ranked Buckeyes absolutely destroyed St. Francis of Pennsylvania, who I understand is the patron saint of cupcakes, 110-47, at the Schottenstein Center on Saturday.

Six Ohio State players scored in double figures led by Jeremie Simmons, who came off the bench to throw in 18 points. Jon Diebler scored 17, Evan Turner added 16, William Buford chipped in 15, Dallas Lauderdale put in 11 and P.J. Hill contributed 10 points for the Buckeyes.

The 110 points scored by the Buckeyes was the most since OSU lit up the scoreboard with 121 points against George Mason back in 1995, and the 63-point margin was the biggest since 1991 when Ohio State issued a 116-44 beatdown to Chicago State. Click here to read more >>
