Big Easy-bound!

Most Buckeye fans across the land were anxiously awaiting the Big XII Championship game, becoming Sooner fans for just one night in hopes that Oklahoma would defeat Missouri which would allow Ohio State into the BCS title game.

Very few, though, expected Pittsburgh, who was a 28 1/2-point underdog to No. 2 West Virginia, to pull off an upset.

But in a season where second-ranked teams were dropping like flies into a bug zapper against unranked teams, the Panthers pulled off one of the more stunning upsets in recent years when so much was on the line for the Mountaineers.

LeSean McCoy rushed for 134 yards on 38 carries and the Pitt defense held West Virginia to just 183 yards of total offense as the Panthers denied the Mountaineers a trip to New Orleans, winning 13-9 in Morgantown, W. Va.

It was also a game that hopefully the Big East Conference will review because it was the most poorly officiated game I have seen in recent years, and it almost appeared that the referees were almost trying to ensure a Mountaineer win.

As Pittsburgh has wrapped up their upset, Oklahoma was taking care of business in the Alamodome against Missouri, throttling the Tigers 38-17 in San Antonio, Texas.

Freshman quarterback Sam Bradford passed for 209 yards and two scores while the Sooners as a team rushed 166 and three more TDs to knock off the top-ranked team in the nation and claim the Big XII title.

Now all that remains now is who Ohio State will play in New Orleans. Georgia? Virginia Tech? LSU? USC? Oklahoma? We will find out soon enough.

Update: As expected, Ohio State will face LSU in the BCS Championship Game.
